I can’t believe it’s already February, can you? Where does the time go? Anyway, next week is fashion week and I’m in full-on packing and final planning mode. Eek! With the arrival of fashion week I will be taking my Instagram activity (just a taste of what happened in January is above) up a few notches and reporting from all the runway shows and fun events I was invited to – click here to start following me so that you stay in the loop! Don’t forget to sign up for LikeToKnow. It so you can also shop the looks I post on Insta. Anyway, now onto this weekend’s best sales – not too many this time around, but here you go!
- Take 40% off everything at LOFT with code TAKE40. This tuxedo shirt is a classic, don’t you think? Also loving this polka-dot shell.
- Enjoy 25% off at Old Navy this weekend for Super Bowl Sunday! Just enter code SCORE at checkout. This striped jersey dress and this cute coverup are going to satisfy my craving for spring.
- Shopbop‘s latest sale additions are insane! This dress is very McQueen inspired and very much at the top of my wishlist, but I can’t ever pass up a good pair of dark denim.
- THE OUTNET does it again with great additions this week. This black Alexander Wang bag is a sleek staple for any wardrobe, and I love this oversized Joseph blazer! PS how fitting would these bright silk pants be for a beach vacation?
January 1st, 2014. Time to hit the refresh button and start fresh, don’t you agree? There are a lot of things I accomplished in 2013, but I’m planning to take this year’s goals to a whole new level. After having a week to settle in and absorb my newfound freedom, I’m excited to share that I’m now doing The Style Scribe full-time! I absolutely LOVED my job and the people I worked with, but as my blog has grown in the last year, I felt limited in the time I was able to spend on my blog while still remaining a sane individual who also has a social life (I never saw my friends or did anything but the blog on weeknights and weekends). I’m thrilled about the many possibilities, projects and partnerships that will come with this new year and am so grateful for having such engaged and loyal readers! THANK YOU for continuing to follow along through my journey – I am so thankful for your unwavering support. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for what you’d like to see more of on the blog, feel free to comment on this post or email me! I love hearing from you. Cheers to an amazing 2014 – excited for what’s next!

Merry Christmas everyone! There’s something so special about Christmas morning. I’m not sure whether it’s the gifts under the tree, the fire crackling, my entire family in pajamas, or the cinnamon buns in the oven, but today is the day I always feel gratitude and thanks. Even while I love Christmas, this holiday is bittersweet. I feel a sense of loss associated with Christmas because my dad isn’t here to celebrate it. It’s been 7 years since he passed away and I still can’t believe it. I’m grateful to have had such an inspiring and encouraging father – I wouldn’t have the work ethic I do (and pretty much my entire personality) if it weren’t for him. I miss his famous phrases that his friends still recall, “That’s what I’m talking about!”, our inside jokes and his relentless faith and graciousness. I hope that while you celebrate today and rip open the (hopefully many) gifts, remember why this holiday exists and sing your praises to the heavens! Have a safe and happy holiday!
Remember the #icepocalypse that hit Dallas a couple weeks ago? Well the night of the big storm, Google invited me to a Dallas Drybar event promoting their new tablet, the Nexus 7. As you may have guessed, I wasn’t able to attend due to the weather (and the fact that I had to drive to Austin for an event that was happening the next day). I was super bummed I was missing a chance to party with Google – wouldn’t you be too? Well to my pleasant surprise, Google sent me the Nexus 7 anyway as a holiday gift. Pinch. Me. Now. I have never owned a tablet and have always been attached at the hip to my laptop for the sake of this blog, but I’ve lately felt behind the times with my sometimes bulky, always heavy computer. While I know I’ll always travel with my laptop for longer trips, now I can attend meetings knowing I’ll have a fast and easy way to show off my blog. The Nexus 7 fits in my smallest bags and is super lightweight – no more backaches from dragging my laptop case everywhere. Hallelujah!
Anyway, the whole point of this post is that the Google Nexus 7 is really the ideal holiday gift. It’s perfect for anyone at any age and has all the capabilities you could ask for. I can read all of my books, watch my favorite TV shows on the Netflix app, work on my blog with the WordPress app, post to Instagram, etc. You name it, the Nexus 7 does it. The best part about this tablet? Starting at only $229, it’s the most budget-friendly tablet out there. There’s still time to buy it and get it before Christmas, so click here to buy one for yourself or as a last minute holiday gift for someone you love!
