Yesterday was our first day back in Paris! After a 9 hour flight, we dropped off our luggage at the hotel and immediately headed to one of my all-time favorite haunts, Laduree, for lunch. It was a great meal (as always) and I picked up some macaroons afterward – rose petal and salted caramel are my obsessions… Later we went shopping along the Rue Saint Honore until it started raining – unfortunately it didn’t stop sprinkling until after dinner (hence the awkward outfit photos right outside of the hotel lobby). I’m loving my new ASOS leather top – the green is perfect for fall, but also looks great with my white jeans right now. Also, just in case you’re curious, I decided to wear the top backwards – the zipper is actually supposed to be in the back, however I think the zipper added a cool toucher touch to the front than the deep v neckline. It looks great worn either way! Today my mom, sister and I are going to walk through the Tuilieries Garden, then go to the Marc Chagall exhibit at the Luxembourg musuem before lunch at Le Restaurant. I imagine we’ll spend the rest of the afternoon shopping. Don’t hate it! Hope you all have a great weekend!

With summer right around the corner (and let’s face it – we’ve already had temps rise above 90 degrees in Texas this spring), it’s only appropriate to chat about some festive essentials for any summer cocktail party or fun get-together with friends. There are so many things to think about when planning a summer shin-dig: What drinks and light bites are you serving? What’s on your iPhone playlist? What to wear?? Here’s a run-down of my recommendations for making all of your summer social events a stylish and super fun success – click here to check out the rest of it on LuckyMagazine.com!

First things first – what are you serving? A personal go-to during summertime is the Grand Marnier margarita. Fresh lime juice and tequila combine with the richness and complexity of Grand Marnier to create a deliciously cool cocktail that any guy or girl will love. In a mixing glass add 3/4 oz of Grand Marnier, 1 ½ oz of premium tequila, ½ oz fresh lime juice, ½ oz simple syrup. Fill the glass with ice, shake well and strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass or margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and voilà! The best tasting marg you’ll ever try. Just be sure to use only fresh ingredients for the best tasting Grand Margarita!

For a sure crowd pleaser with my margaritas I love serving Mi Cocina’s queso and salsa, but I make my own guacamole. Continuing with the theme party (Fiesta) I ordered custom sombrero cookies from Celebrity Bakery – another Dallas favorite.

Now that you’ve got your menu, the next step is all about presentation. I like to have consistency in my serve-wear, whether it’s all in the same color scheme, pattern or just a great theme. Start with one item, like these cute Anthropologie bowls – the orange + pink color scheme is a great summer combo and the pattern fits in with our Fiesta theme. Adding to the color scheme, I got coordinating striped paper straws at Swoozie’s (not to mention the super cool Dallas glasses below) and a large serving tray from Target. Looks great, don’t you think?

The week of the party I like to get a good playlist going so that I can already have it playing when friends arrive. I enjoy having a variation of genres in one playlist, but they are all typically the same “mood”. I’m not going to lie to you – both soundtracks from the HBO series, Girls, have had some great examples of what I would play. I love Ellie Goulding, CHVRCHES, The XX, Florence + The Machine, MGMT, etc. The music is upbeat, but not too loud. Obviously cater this to your own personal music tastes, but those are just some suggestions!

Now onto clothes! When hosting an event, comfort is key for me. Because Texas summers are typically super hot, I almost always choose a cute sundress and a comfortable pair of wedges to don for afternoon or evening events. One recent acquisition that I think is perfect for a summer soiree is this sheath dress by Paul & Joe Sister. The color scheme is soft and the print is playful enough for a day-to-night look. The fabric is light and breathable and looks great with flat or high-heeled sandals.

On my trip to Last Call a couple weekends ago I got ridiculously lucky. I was able to stock up on a ton of great basics, but I also scored this gorgeous printed Parker number. Blue is my favorite color and the silhouette was superbly flattering, so I couldn’t say no! This style is sold out online, but Shopbop has a ton of pretty Parker pieces in stock right now. I also ordered a bunch from ASOS last week (and I mean a lot) and was extremely pleased with these colorful earrings. They make the perfect statement when paired with this dress, don’t you think?

Happy Friday! It’s been a long week my friends, but last night hosting the Ted Baker 25th Anniversary party was so much fun! Can’t wait to share photos with you on the blog next week, so stay tuned. There’s nothing better than a silk dress in spring. I snagged this Vince dress (similar style in same color here) last weekend! It’s light (great for the Texas heat), but could work for fall/winter with just a switch of accessories and some tights. It is definitely one of my new favorite wardrobe staples!

Happy Monday, folks! What did you do this weekend? I had one of the most fun weekends I’ve had in a while. I attended a house-warming party, baby shower, crawfish boil, and still had time for dinner with friends, shopping and seeing The Great Gatsby! I’m not quite sure how I fit it all in, but it was perfect. During my short shopping spree on Sunday, I picked up this poppy Equipment blouse – the bright shade makes me happy. I’ll say it time and time again, Equipment blouses are my favorite. I’m pretty sure I have about 15 at this point, but can you blame me?
