Haven’t heard of Flywheel? Don’t worry, I’m going to tell you ALL about it! Flywheel was introduced to me this spring by a few friends and my first thought was hell NO do I want to go with them to spin class. My first and only experience with a spin class was in college and I couldn’t take the heat. It was too intense and not enjoyable for me at all. Enter Flywheel.
My first Flywheel experience was really intense just like the first spin class, but the atmosphere was totally different. All of the workouts on the bike are in sync with the playlist each instructor creates, so naturally you can imagine there is a lot of Beyonce, Katy Perry and Jay-Z (aka my kind of workout music). All of the instructors are wonderful – I’ve gone to classes led by Mark, Cristin, Kelly, Mandy and Jen. They all provide a different experience, so I like to switch it up and go to a variety each week! While most of the ride is dedicated to a leg + core workout, one song each class is dedicated to arms – I typically burn anywhere between 600-1,000 calories each class (estimated by Flywheel based on total power after each class – you can check it online)! And not to get super real with you, but I leave that class sweatier than I’ve ever been after any other workout I’ve ever done, period. Flywheel seriously is the best workout and after only a couple months I’ve definitely seen a difference. Now I just need to work on my diet…
Finally, Flywheel has an awesome selection of workout wear available for purchase at the studio, as well as several showers for those of you who need a place to wash up before heading to the office. Did I mention they have an incredible schedule? The classes I frequent are perfect for those of you with a 9-to-5 job – they typically have classes early at 6 or 7am and evening classes at 5:30 and 6:30pm every week day. Plus, they have classes both Saturday and Sunday, which I often go to. I really can’t say enough good things about it – you just have to try it out for yourself! Click here to learn more about Flywheel and sign up for your first class. Remember, your first class is always FREE!

oh girl, you speak my language. i’ve been obsessed since I moved to NYC and they were just beginning. I also loooove Flybarre!I’d choose Flywheel over SoulCycle given they quantify your results and you can track how you’re doing with the calculator on the bike. Glad you are as addicted as me!
So nice to meet you, Merritt & thanks for this awesome review of Flywheel! Sept 23-29 all our classes (FLY and BARRE) are free at the Plano location! Hope to see you in the studio soon :)
I have been meaning to try a class for so long – thanks for the reminder!!
Come on down. I am an instructor there and this week we are launching Flybarre in Plano as well. WIth that combination, you cannot go wrong! Happy riding! #nevercoast
_oh and BEAUTIFUL pictures, I might add!
I have some friends that swear by it and are totally hooked. They keep wanting for me to try…..I will. It sounds like an exciting workout.
We’re big spin fans but have never tried Flywheel – there’s not a location in DC!
