  • On my flight back from Carmel I was perusing the latest issue of Marie Claire and happened upon a little story about Sass & Bide. I’ve been a fan of the designer duo Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke for years (remember this?). The pieces are always so fresh and fun, with gorgeous beading, vivid colors and exciting prints. While I already knew about their killer designs and details, the article in MC introduced me to their philanthropic side. The duo have partnered with the Ethical Fashion Initiative, a United Nations program to create Made With Love, Made in Africa. This program empowers African women by providing them jobs that pay fair wages. This season, Sass & Bide continued  their work in Africa and created a collection of bags handmade from cotton, recycled leather and glass beads from Kenya – see #4 in today’s EDIT! I’m also loving this larger tote. I definitely think it’s worth recognizing those designers that give back to their local and global communities. Click here to shop the entire Made in Africa collection, and click here to watch the video and learn more about the initiative.
  • Have you been by J.Crew.com recently? The new arrivals are to die for! I’m head over heels for this cheerful perforated orange clutch and this adorable striped dress (perfect for summer soirees). Also, their latest floral print is nothing short of a show-stopper – I’ve been dreaming about this skirt. Isn’t it a beauty? Last but not least, these striped pajamas are essential for those hot summer days. Comfortable and cool.
