If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I attended a special ribbon-cutting for Freedom Field, a lush field for recreation and rehabilitation for injured military at the Warrior & Family Support Center in San Antonio. Our family gave this field as a gift in memory of my grandaddy, Kerry G. Merritt, who served in the European theatre of World War Two. While serving our country, he was injured and spent time in several military hospitals abroad, so the center and Freedom Field are a perfect way to celebrate his memory. Our family wanted to do something for those who continue to put themselves in harm’s way on our behalf. It was a beautiful ceremony among gorgeous grounds at Brooke Army Medical Center. We are so grateful for the efforts of those who have created and run the center and for those who come to it as a result of their service in protecting our freedom. Thank you to Returning Heroes Home for creating this beautiful facility!
