For someone who’s pretty basic in terms of everyday makeup like I am, it’s difficult to switch things up – especially when you’ve been doing your makeup the same way for nearly 10 years! Even when I have gotten my makeup done in the past, I have never really adhered to any of the products I’m sent home with. Maybe it’s a comfort zone thing or maybe I just like what I like, but who knows. Nevertheless, this summer I’m going to try out a new makeup trend I’ve been seeing more and more lately – white eyeliner. While the bolder, thicker white liner is probably best saved for the catwalk, I’m definitely intrigued to try it in a more subdued way.
White liner is said to make your eyes appear more open (which I could use for a number of reasons!) and adds subtle contrast with your day-to-day mascara. I would say it adds a more glamorous look than typical black liner too. The subtle look I’m most inspired by is this photo of Maggie Grace – isn’t she a beauty? The perfect summer look, in my opinion. I wouldn’t, however say no to testing out this look – it would be incredibly cutting-edge and chic if applied correctly. To recreate these looks for myself, I chose this NARS eye pencil in Iceberg, however this Napoleon Perdis “Eye Bright” Inner Rim Liner seems pretty perfect too. Below are some other gorgeous whites for you to peruse – click through each product image to shop it!

Of all these photos, Maggie Grace inspires me to try this. The subtle white liner could be do-able. Great post!!

I’m the same way, I tend to do my makeup the exact same way every time. I got a white and turquoise liner that I almost never use. Maybe I’ll shake things up a bit, thank you for the inspo.

White eyeliner, such a fabulous trick. When subtly applied, it does wonders! Fabulous inspiration!
I am the WORST at applying eyeliner so I need to skip this trend I think. I love it on others though.
I don’t know that I could pull this look off but it sure is striking! xx

I like the idea of brighter eyes, but I’m not sure if I can pull this one off. I’m with you on the idea of needing/wanting to mix up the beauty routine. I think mine has been the same for quite a few years now!

It’s funny that you’re posting on this, because I have spent the last two days at Ulta buying new eyeliners and lip colors. And while I’m not a fan of the white liner I will be trying a soft pink version. I hope you try it out and share with us readers.
You’re so right — the bold look on the eyelid would be harder to pull off, but I love the idea of it used in the waterline for subtle brightening! And yeah, Maggie Grace is gorgeous.
I always wanted to try this. love it
