I don’t know about you, but I had some serious “Sunday Scaries” yesterday. I had a rather big weekend – it first started Thursday with the incredible Oscar de la Renta exhibit at the George W. Bush Presidential Library with my mom! She came to town for a quick one-night visit to do a little shopping, check out the newly launched exhibit and grab dinner. We hit up Highland Park Village, (one of our must-stop’s while she’s in town) to check out the goods at stores like Madison, Tory Burch and Jimmy Choo (I bought these half off!). In addition to my Choo purchase, I also picked up this faux-tucked tank at SCOOP. Can we talk about the method of a tucked shirt for a minute? I’ve never been able to pull off that effortless tucked look that you see often on those chic and casual outfits you’re constantly pinning. Whenever I’ve tried to do it with a regular top and jeans, it ends up looking forced and not cute whatsoever (translation = bulky and unflattering). Anyone else have that problem?
That’s why when I came across this top by new-to-me line, Sen, I had to try it on! Not only is the work done for you to get that effortless look, it is the softest thing I’ve ever laid my hands on. It has all the qualities I’m looking for in a purchase: it’s comfortable, classic and cool all at the same time. I’m seriously so obsessed with it, I am getting it in gray and white too (pick up the white one at SCOOP in Dallas!). Anyway, back to Thursday – the ODLR exhibit is really worth a trip. My mom and I attended the press preview, where former first lady Laura Bush spoke. Such a treat! After the exhibit, we tried a new restaurant called Spoon Bar & Kitchen. It’s in a funky location within Preston Center (across from Hopdoddy’s), but the second you step inside you’re charmed by the elegant and modern decor. While we were expecting a primarily fish-filled menu after glancing at the site, we were not expecting a real fine dining experience (just based on the location). Boy, were we wrong! The meal we enjoyed at Spoon is one of the best I’ve ever had in Dallas. We didn’t order the tasting menu, but we may as well have since they kept bringing by little amuse-bouche’s, pre-desserts and other fun treats throughout the meal. Our favorite dish? The “Singapore style” lobster chili with Texas toast. It. Was. Mind. Blowing. I really could have just eaten that with my beautiful pea salad, but we both ordered fish dishes for dinner. I highly recommend trying out Spoon – you won’t be disappointed!
The rest of the weekend was spent going out with friends, so I’m a wee bit tired. Hope you all have a fabulous week!

Love the black + white and especially the tassel with the little pearl details! Also, your hair looks amaze!
ahh, yes…I do struggle with the tuck. I’ve come to the conclusion it is bc I’m shortwaisted. tucking things in can make me look bulky and wide (especially in pics). Sometimes I just leave my shirt out, or tuck in just a little on the side and blouse it over. I can completely relate for sure.
Love this look…those white skinnys are the perfect pair!

looove it! :)
I totally didn’t realize that it was a faux-tuck until you explained it! I used to have trouble figuring out how to rock the “front tuck” or “side tuck”, but after multiple failed attempts I think I have it down pat!
Love the black and white look and that clutch is great! I will never be able to pull off the half tuck and I don’t know why! ha!

Same here. I hardly ever wear things tucked in because of my waist but that’s why I’ve been trying to lose these love handles! I bought some fun midi skirts that I need to wear tucked in tops with and I’m determined now (I’m saying this as I eat a bowlful of strawberry cheesecake icecream…ha). :)
I can either do a full tuck or keep it loose, have failed at the half tuck and it looks horrendous on me. If I had a narrower hip, may be I could be mildly successful! Anyways! Love the outfit and totally fangirling the Kirkwood pumps!!
Stunningggg! Love, love this look!

My half-tucked top needs some work, too, so I feel you. Thank you for introducing me to Sen!
P.S. Glad you got to spend some time with your mom. I’m definitely going to make the 3-hour drive to Dallas to see the ODLR exhibit. Your Instagram had me drooling!
