As I mentioned on Wednesday, this year’s trip to Carlsbad was full of new adventures – especially for our taste buds! In addition to trying a bunch of new restaurants, we took advantage of the local farmer’s market one afternoon. It’s everything you would expect, but even better. I hate to knock on the Dallas farmer’s market, but this one was so much more fun! They of course have the typical fruits, veggies and locally created grub, but they also had stands filled with sweet succulents and other beautiful plants, a build-your-own acai bowl booth, and a smoothie + fresh coconut stand. Because it was particularly hot that day, I opted for a fresh Thai coconut – they smashed it right in front of me! Not only was it delicious, but it also made for a good outfit photo prop! ;)
We ended up leaving with sunflowers, succulents, peaches, tomatoes, zucchini blossoms (mom’s favorite) and some fresh raisins. Such a fun afternoon! Today I’m headed down to Houston for my friend’s (and old Houston roomie) wedding – I’m looking forward to catching up with old friends and hitting some of my favorite restaurants while I’m in town. If you recall, this blog was founded while I was living there at the end of 2010… Oh, how time flies! In case you missed it, be sure to check out yesterday’s post – it features all of the items on my fall wardrobe wish list!
