periwinkle blue

Although I talk on and on about the importance of owning basics and neutrals, sometimes you just need a statement or colorful piece to brighten up your look! I found the perfect periwinkle blue coat at Topshop while in New York for fashion week, and was counting down the days until I could sport it in London!

notting hill london

Last Saturday I spent the day discovering the historic (but new to me) neighborhood of Notting Hill. This area of London is one (of very many, I’m sure) that I had not seen on prior trips to the city, so I was eager to explore Notting Hill solo to get the full experience. I just had the taxi drop me off on a random corner, and then all I did was just wander around for a few hours – sometimes that’s the best way to learn the lay of the land and discover the prettiest spots.

black on black on black

There are few things I love more than a chic, all-black look. Last week I showcased a few favorite black basics under $100, so I felt it was only appropriate to feature a  monochrome black ensemble! If you’re not on a strict budget this fall and don’t need to stick to the under $100 rule, there are a few key black pieces that you need to see/lust after/buy (in addition to this look of course).

iris & ink

Hello, from London! It’s been a whirlwind of a trip so far. Lots of great meetings, delicious meals and exploring different parts of the city! Our first meeting of the trip was with THE OUTNET – while at the pristine (and massive) NET-A-PORTER Group headquarters, we previewed the Spring/Summer ’15 collection of the brand’s own line, Iris & Ink.

fair day

A couple weeks back I took an afternoon away from my laptop to partake in the State Fair of Texas! My friend Dori (who also works from home) was able to slip away for the day, so we spent the afternoon stuffing our faces with some delicious fried foods, riding the rides and even watched some pig races. If you didn’t get a chance to go this year, go in 2015 and definitely go to the pig races – I’ve never laughed so hard in my life! It was the perfect fall day – bright and sunny, but the air was crisp and cool.
