Commes des Garcons Striped Top | The Style Scribe

When I first saw this Comme Des Garcons top I knew it had to be mine. The stripes! The bows! The peek-a-boo shoulders! I was all in. This piece is all about the details – while it’s a classic style and print, the accented shoulders really bring personality to the piece, don’t you think? Parisian-chic at its best, I’d say. This top looks gorgeous dressed up, but just as pretty with a basic pair of jeans and flats too. Easy pieces like that are essential for travel. I wanted to share a few other pieces I’ll be taking with me to London next week – every item I’m taking has a dual-purpose and will be worn twice. I’m hoping this will help save space in my luggage so that I can bring back a few goodies with me without going over the weight limit. Keep in mind it’s going to be cold there, so I’m taking a separate smaller bag (just bought this chic duffle!) to check just for my coats since they are heavy and take up so much space!

First and foremost, I’m taking my favorite pair of black jeans – they’re coated and sleek, but comfortable, so this pair is ideal for wearing from meetings to drinks. For shoes to wear during the day, I’ve packed my black Rag & Bone Newbury boots, an old pair of Stuart Weitzman wedge over-the-knee boots (similar here), and these Old Navy sneakers. For nighttime, I’m taking my gray Vince booties (25% off right now!!) and a basic pair of black pumps. Continuing on with the classics, I’m bringing along two white button-downs (this one from Nordstrom and this one from Theory), my camel cape by Jenni Kayne, and a pair of suede leggings. I’m also bringing this new sweater from Aritzia and my favorite sweater from OTTE NY. I’m taking four dresses – this new acquisition from Phillip Lim, this basic black number from Cynthia Rowley, this classic shirtdress from Rebecca Taylor, and a new frock from Morgan Carper. As far as outerwear goes, I’m taking this periwinkle blue coat from Topshop, this faux-fur sleeveless coat from NastyGal, my faux-fur winter white Zara coat and my tried and true Burberry trench. I may also take this gray coat for a more basic option just in case. I’ve packed workout clothes and some extra casual pieces – think I’ve got enough? Can’t wait to shoot everything with a London and Paris backdrop! Stay tuned…
