This post is a little off the beaten path for this blog, but I think you’ll thank me for it. If you follow me on Instagram or have read The Style Scribe for awhile, you’ll know I’m from Austin. In the summer you’ve probably seen me visit my stepdad’s lake house on Lake Austin – it’s on the far end of the lake near Lake Austin Spa, so it’s a bit of a drive if you’re coming from downtown. On my more recent trips to ATX, specifically Christmas and Thanksgiving, you likely saw photos from a new house (perhaps this purple room and a glimpse of the vanities in their master bath?). This house has been a special project my mom and stepdad have been working on for over two years and it finally finished this fall!
Over the holidays they had it photographed by the talented Casey Dunn to capture all of the hard work put into the property. I was just dying to share more of it with you! It has the most amazing views of downtown Austin (see a peek in Morris’ handsome office above) and of town lake – I’ve captured quite a few pics on my phone as well that I’ve placed in a gallery below for you to view! A big thanks to the team below for making the home so breathtaking and for documenting it so beautifully.

Your moms home is absolutely gorgeous and I wan to move right in! Love everything, especially the blue touches. Can you ask your mom and and step dad what the color of the window frame is? It looks like a lighter blue perhaps. I’d appreciate that! Hugs and kisses and I hope to see you soon!
Exquisitely beautiful! Thank you for sharing the photos of this beautiful home with your fans! Your blog is my favorite way to start my day!
One of the most beautiful houses I have seen! Your Mom and Stepdad have exquisite taste and it shows. Absolutely breathtaking views and interiors. Enjoy!!

Wow, insanely gorgeous! And like everyone has said, exquisite!
Merritt, their home is absolutely stunning! I also love the blue touches. So warm and inviting, yet airy and bright all at the same time. I have never been to Austin but it’s definitely on my bucket list. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things!

It’s an interesting design choice for the house style, the interior and exterior don’t really feel cohesive but it’s understandable because you want to have the interior be your personal taste. The blue is really present in the entire space. It’s pretty, not my taste at all but love that you’ve shared it!
Such an amazing in chic place. Would love to visit your mom’s house ;) Have a great weekend!

Stunning details- love, love, love all the millwork- in the master bedroom are the walls fabric?? And what is the reasoning behind hardwood under the kitchen cabinets- but then stone starts a few inches in? I love design and am just curious as to why?
Can your mom come decorate my house? Please and thanks ;)
