Lafayette 148 Dress | The Style Scribe

When packing for my weekend in Utah, I also had to keep in mind the attire for Rachel’s baby shower. The invitation called for cream, white or blush, and I didn’t have a lick of any of the three colors in my wardrobe! I have gauzy summer dresses aplenty, but nothing that was appropriate for a baby shower. Since most of my luncheon-y dresses are in other colors for weddings (never wear white!), I was lacking a solid cream dress. While perusing the racks at Nordstrom a few weeks ago, I wasn’t having any luck finding the right piece. I had poured over almost every section and was about to give up hope, until I spotted this textured jacquard sheath in the Lafayette 148 section. Up until now, I’ve never owned a piece from their collection, simply because a lot of the pieces are geared more towards an older audience. The pieces are cut modestly and are very sophisticated. Although I was skeptical at first, the second I slipped on this dress it was a match made in heaven!

This dress is somewhat fitted at the waist and not tight in the hips (yay!), and the length was ideal for this type of event. It’s also a beautiful choice for church, cocktail parties and even works for date night! I ended up just pairing the dress with my favorite nude pumps for the shower for a classic look (see how I styled it here), but it also looks adorable belted and with a sassy pair of heels! If you’re newer to the Lafayette line too, be sure to check out their collection here. A few pieces of importance: this modern eyelet sleeveless tunic blouse, this printed fit-and-flare dress, this lace-trim shirt and this casual linen shirt dress for summer!

PS – how much do you love these new Fendi shades? I’m officially summer-ready!
