If you can’t avoid the heat in these almost unbearable Texas summers, I find it best to don simple dresses in breezy, comfortable fabrics like this one by J.Crew. Silk is a no-no (no one likes sweat marks) and knits can be too constricting, but linen is right on the money.

The easy stripes, functional pockets and subtle cutout in the back make this number ideal for day-to-night wear all summer long. Pair it with flat sandals and a casual tote for errands, barbecues, and other daytime functions, or wear it with heeled espadrilles and a neutral clutch for a night out!
