As someone who is both tall and kinda curvy, maxi dresses are usually not the ideal silhouette for me. I like to think of my legs as my best assets – they are long and (somewhat) lean, so covering them up is generally not a good idea. Long dresses tend to make me look shorter than I am, and they don’t do a whole lot for accentuating my waist either.

When shopping for some transitional basics for my travels this summer/fall, I wanted to find a LBD that was simple and elegant, but that wasn’t short. That way I can wear it into September and October with a leather jacket or sleek trench, without totally freezing my butt off.

Since I’m always perusing the new arrivals and sale section at Tibi, it didn’t take me long to locate this pleated number. While this dress still may be considered a maxi style, the slight hi-low hem and sheer pleating at the bottom gives you just enough of a peek at my legs. It also has thin ties around that waist that you can tie in a number of ways for a flattering, waist-cinching fit. It also comes in white, blush and green, but I figured the black would make for an easier transition for fall.
