Happy Friday! Hope you all have had a wonderful week. I’m back in London, but just for a hot second – I’m elated to share my mom, stepdad and sister will be meeting me over in Paris just over a week from now!!! While I don’t feel I’ve been gone very long, it’ll have been three full months since I last saw them – and I miss them. A lot. I’m really not one who gets homesick, but I do miss my people.

If you follow me on Snapchat (username: merrittbeck), you may remember this outfit from my day spent in Shoreditch. I was meeting my friend Sam for a movie at Electric Cinema, and then the rest of the day’s plans were sort of open ended. I wanted to be ready for anything – pub crawl, shopping, you name it. If I’m unsure of where the day will take me, or have plans to stay out through the evening, I always opt on the dressier side of style. This LBD I picked up from ASOS isn’t necessarily fancy, but paired with my metallic Nicholas Kirkwood loafers and my pretty tweed jacket, it took the ensemble up a notch.

After trying on dress after dress in the wrong shapes over the years trying to make it work, I’ve honed in on exactly what works for my figure. A fitted waist is somewhat of a requirement when I shop for dresses – as someone who is quite busty and “hippy”, I always look to accentuate my waist. Unfortunately, the more flowy or boxy a top or dress is, the less flattering it is on me. For those reasons, this dress was a no-brainer: it has a drawstring waist and it has a loose hip skirt. I also adore the fact it has sleeves! It’s a flattering everyday basic.
