I’ve never really been a fan of denim jackets. More often than not, they look too small on my tall frame. I also hate bulky, stiff denim fabric, especially if I’m wearing it up top. It just doesn’t do my top-heavy figure any favors. I don’t find they are very comfortable either! I understand why people wear them – effortless, like jeans, they are the perfect neutral topper to any outfit. I just had yet to find one that looked good on me.

On my trip to GAP a few weeks ago, I found this utility jacket. It’s not the typical style you see in denim jackets, but that’s what I like about it. It’s longer than most out there, comes with four real pockets, and also features a hidden drawstring for cinching in your waist a little more. This jacket is wayyy more my speed. It fits pretty large, so I would go down a size. I’m wearing the small here.

I wore it on the plane to and from Hawaii to keep me cozy throughout the flight. It’s just perfect for those days and nights when you need a simple extra layer!
