Best of Beauty // Allison's Picks | The Style Scribe

For those of you who missed the post a few weeks ago, my intern Allison rounded up some of her must-haves from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! The article was well-received, so I’ve decided to start featuring her on here more often! In addition to having different style from mine, she’s got a young vibe and fresh perspective (oh, to be in college)! I always find it interesting to hear what other beauty products people love to use, especially from someone who is a different age than I am, so I invited Allison to share a few of her ride-or-die beauty favorites! Here you go:

When it comes to beauty, I like to keep it simple. I have the same makeup routine every day, with only a few minor changes when I go out at night! During the day I’ll wear foundation, bronzer, mascara and then fill in my eyebrows with this pencil. For going out look I’ll put a little extra effort in and add a blush, highlighter, and eyeliner! Not too complicated.

While my routine has stayed the same for the last few years, my products have not. I love buying and trying new products and see how each one compares to the last. It’s pretty rare that I repurchase an item unless I am madly in love with it, just because there is so much to try out there!

As far as items I will buy-til-I-die, here’s a little run through:

  1. I buy this Chanel mascara in bulk, because I refuse to live without it.
  2. I’m on my third bottle of this foundation, also by Chanel. It is so light and silky, and doesn’t feel like I’m wearing any makeup at all. This also happened to be the most recommended foundation when Merritt asked on her SnapChat, so we can’t all be wrong!
  3. This Bobbi Brown corrector concealer is another favorite I always repurchase. This goes under regular concealer and completely eliminates any dark circles or discoloration. Before this I was using concealer that was WAY to light for my skin in an effort to hide the dark circles, but I just ended up looking odd. This one is a game changer.

Basically my philosophy on makeup is that it’s best to just spend money on things that are going directly on your face and next to your eyes so I definitely try to buy quality products that I can trust won’t break me out or send toxins directly into my skin!
