Fitness Update // BBG, FlyWheel and Walking | The Style Scribe[/halves]

It’s been awhile since I’ve given you guys an update on my fitness routine and goals, so I thought I’d do that today! Plus I recently received a few requests to share some of my new activewear favorites, so figured it would be the perfect combo for a post.

FITNESS UPDATE

As you guys may remember from my last post on the subject, I was just finishing my second full round of BBG 1.0 and about to start BBG 2.0! I purchased the second guide and have since completed two rounds of 2.0 as well. While in California a few weeks back, I debated what to do next: should I start all the way over and do 1.0 and 2.0 all the way through? Or would that mess with the progress and strength I’ve gained by going back to the very beginning? To be honest, I was worried if I did BBG 2.0 again for a third time in a row, I’d get bored. So with that, I started with BBG 1.0 again just a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been using my same level of weights as I was doing in 2.0, and adding weights to moves like the straight leg jackknife instead of going sans weights like the beginning of the 1.0 guide says to do. I’m hoping this will keep my muscles as active and strong as they were as I go through from start to finish! Just last week I also set a goal for myself to really do the HIIT workouts as fast as possible. This is what you are supposed to do to maximize the benefits of the workout, but awhile back I stopped timing myself and taking it at my own pace. While that helped me for awhile to keep pushing through the workouts, I do feel like I’ve gotten a little sluggish lately and want to return to the real reason I’m doing them. Sometimes you go through slumps and that’s ok. I’m getting back on track!

I’m still keeping up with FlyWheel too, usually 3 times a week now! I was going about 4-5x per week for awhile, but my intern’s schedule this summer has kept me from going to classes at night which is when I would typically add in an extra class. Her schedule changes a bit once school starts, so I’m hoping to add a class back in then! In addition to the hardcore cardio I get from FlyWheel, I’ve been really enjoying going on long walks around my neighborhood and listening to my current go-to podcast: My Favorite Murder. These walks are not strenuous whatsoever, especially since I’m doing them before or after I complete my BBG workouts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. While not rigorous, I do try to walk about 8,000 steps so that I get a guaranteed 10,000 by the end of the day!

In addition to those three things I’ve been doing, I’d also love to try boxing soon! I received lots of great recommendations for boxing clubs and personal trainers in the area from my followers on SnapChat, so I’m hoping to schedule either a class or time with trainer once a week. Things have been a bit crazy around here which is why I have yet to do it, but I’m still planning to! I’d just like to add something new to the mix + I hear boxing is such a great total body workout!

NEW (AND TRIED & TRUE) ACTIVEWEAR OBSESSIONS

Sports Bras: the style I wear most is this one from Nike, however if you’re looking for maximum support for a big chest, you’ve gotta try this Juno bra! I also really like this bra style from Lululemon.

Leggings: I’m a Lululemon girl through and through when it comes to leggings (and really all of my workout clothes!). Sure, they’re an investment, but for the amount of time I spend in workout clothes and the fact that I work out nearly every day (sometimes twice a day), it’s absolutely worth it to have comfortable, quality leggings. My favorite styles are the Wunder Under High Rise and the Align (I have the crop and the full-length versions of both)!

Tops: My favorite tee from Lululemon is the Swiftly Tech style. They are slightly fitted which is nice with all of the jumping, mountain climbers and bouncing around that happens in BBG and FlyWheel. The tee stays put! It comes in a ton of different colors too, so naturally I have a variety! Another tee I picked up several weeks ago is this Uncovered Tall tee (pictured above) – I like the on-and-off sheer stripes and the length of this tee (it covers your bum)!

Jackets: I have a few different jacket styles from Lululemon, but have the most colors in this style. My favorite style is unfortunately no longer available – it is less fitted and perfect for wearing to-and-from FlyWheel classes, running errands, etc. The closest thing I can find that’s similar is this jacket (although mine has a hoodie).

Socks: I’ve gone through a bunch of different socks over the years, but my all-time favorite brand now is Bombas. I love the way they hug your feet (that’s the Honeycomb Support System) and even after dozens of washes they’ve stayed soft and thick!

Sneakers: I just like simple, comfortable pairs for my walks (like these!), but for BBG I purchase my sneakers based on shock absorption. Gotta protect my knees! My current pair is by Mizuno and they’ve been great!
