Happy Thanksgiving! What I'm Grateful For

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I thought I’d do something different this year and actually tell you guys what I’m thankful for. So much of life just flies by in the blink of an eye, and it’s important to sit down and take stock of all the blessings you already have. When life stresses you out or you’re having a particularly bad week, it’s so easy to focus on the negatives and not look at the bigger picture. That is something I’m trying to do more of going forward… looking at the bigger picture!

FAMILY

I know I’m probably biased, but I truly do have the most wonderful, supportive and loving family out there. When times are good and when times are bad, I can always count on them to lift me up, give me courage, cheer me on or just be a shoulder to cry on. My mom is my best friend – we don’t always agree, but she is always 100% on my side. She’s the most fun, genuine, kind, and caring person I know. I have a long way to go, but I strive to be more like her every day. While I definitely miss having my dad around, I’ve also been incredibly blessed with an amazing stepfather who has been an incredible mentor, sounding board, and friend. From business advice to boy troubles, he’s got my back. When I need some comic relief, my sister is the person I go to. Her laughter is infectious – just ask anyone in our family or any of her friends! She has such a big heart, not to mention a sick sense of style. She’s the most fun to shop with! As far as grandparents go, I’ve had the best. My grandmother was as involved in my childhood as my mother – she’s the most supportive and encouraging woman I know!

FRIENDS

I’ve been very lucky in the friend department. From childhood friends to sorority sisters, to friends I’ve made through work and blogging, I have a solid support system that I’m so incredibly grateful for. These girls keep me sane! Whether we’re crazy busy or bored around Dallas, we always make time for each other – long walks on the Katy Trail, early dinners at La Duni, boozy brunches on the weekend, you name it. Just like with my family, I can count on these girls to be there for me when I need it most – and the same goes for them. My friends are fiercely loyal, smart, hilarious and the most fun! Love y’all!

HEALTH

While I certainly have had my fair share of health issues like the next person, I’m blessed to be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle and not struggle with any chronic health problems. This is something I know that gets more complicated with age, so I definitely try not to take it for granted.

A JOB THAT I LOVE

This has become more and more clear to me recently, especially as I hear friends complain about the stress they’re dealing with at work, too much business travel, or a horrible boss they have to deal with. I am veryyyy grateful to have a job I love. Sure, there are added stressors throughout the year: crazy collaboration deadlines, extra work around the holidays, etc, but even so, I absolutely love what I do. I’m thankful for the freedom I have to work from wherever and set my own schedule. I’m grateful for all I’ve learned about the fashion and tech industries over the years, for the relationships I’ve fostered and made with other bloggers and industry personalities, and for the opportunities to continue growing my little corner of the internet. I’m appreciative of all of my loyal readers, followers and friends who have followed along on this journey, engaged with me on social media, attended events, and actively read my site and newsletter. Connecting with y’all has brought me an insane amount of joy! YOU are why I get up every day and do this.

NEW EXPERIENCES

I’m super grateful for all of the new experiences I’ve had over the years, and ones on the horizon! From traveling the world to being a first time homeowner, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to take risks and try new things. Experiencing other cultures and discovering beautiful areas of this incredible world we live in brings me great joy.

THE LITTLE THINGS

There are certainly plenty of things to be thankful for, but some of the most mundane and everyday conveniences we tend to take for granted. Running water, refrigerators, microwaves, cars… I feel very fortunate and blessed to live in a country as advanced in technology, innovation and freedom.

OUR TROOPS

Speaking of our country, I’m always extremely grateful for our brave troops who put their lives on the line to keep us safe all year long. We are so lucky to live in a free country full of opportunity and bounty.
