One thing I was thrilled about when moving into my new house was the prospect of decorating for every holiday! I love having people over and hosting all kinds of get togethers with friends, so it’s only natural I’d want to spruce up the place for the holidays! I’m still figuring it all out… this was my first time ever buying a tree for myself, and I made the mistake of not doing a pre-lit tree. With that said, I had a good time attempting to put lights around the tree with the help of some jolly holiday tunes! I also didn’t realize just how many ornaments it takes to complete a tree… TOO MANY! I definitely did not buy enough, but I have a good little collection that I can build on over the next few years. I know I could easily buy a package set of ornaments from Target, but I prefer a more diversely decorated tree. I also wasn’t sure whether I needed ribbon, so I just went without it this year. Next year I’ll have a better game plan!
I also bought this pretty wreath for my front door and it added the perfect holiday pop to my stoop! I’m obsessed. It’s simple and elegant, so it ties in well with the rest of my exterior look. My mom was here last weekend, and she suggested we add some lights to the smaller leafy trees on either side of my porch – leave it to my mom to make it look 100% cuter. Mother always knows best, am I right?!

Below are some of my favorite ornaments I’ve purchased and ones I’m still hoping to get my hands on. Hope you all are having as much fun as I am decorating this holiday season!
Sweater: LOFT, Earrings: c/o Tuckernuck, Jeans: Citizens of Humanity, West Elm Stocking Holder (sold out), Pottery Barn Faux Fur Stocking (sold out), Texas Ornament from Mary Cates in Dallas, Snowflake Ornament, Swan Ornament, Macaron Ornaments, Gold Foil Ornament, Tree, Tree Skirt
Everything looks great!
Looks great! I like the mix. I always do roundn ornaments, I like ornate but find myself using round because I change my tree theme every year and there easier. Again, looks good!
I love the wreath! And the color of the sweater is amazing! What lipstick are you wearing in these photos? Love that too haha
Your tree is so pretty Merritt and I love your sweater! XO Merry Christmas!
