HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope you all had a wonderful, happy and safe time celebrating 2018 last night. As I do each year, I thought I’d give a run down on my resolutions and goals for the next twelve months… some may sound familiar to you and some may be ones I’ve mentioned in previous years, but there are definitely a few new things on this year’s list:

#1 TRAVEL MORE OFTEN

With my new house being my main monetary focus in 2017, I took a big step back from traveling last year. While it certainly was great to be home, I will say I missed all of the travel I’d gotten used to doing over the past several years. While my fashion content has always been the true bread and butter of my blog, travel content definitely became a big focus for me after I left my full time job… It’s what I’m truly passionate about and what is constantly inspiring me, so I’m looking forward to getting back to that in the new year! I already have three trips in the books (Colorado at the end of this month, Argentina in March and Asia in April!), so I’d say it’s off to a good start.

#2 BUY THE REST OF THE RUGS FOR MY HOUSE

This sounds like a bizarre resolution/goal, but it’s been one of the more difficult items for me to find for my house. I found the PERFECT rug for my living room before I even moved in, but since then haven’t had much luck finding good rugs for my dining room, office or master. Ideally I’d like to find them in Dallas so I don’t have to deal with return shipping if something doesn’t work, but we’ll see! I’ll take any and all recommendations on where to look (in Dallas or online).

#3 – FIGURE OUT HOW I WANT TO MOVE FORWARD WITH VIDEO

As you may have heard me say before, I’ve had a lot of positive feedback and success with my SnapChat channel. There’s just something about the more candid, raw content on there that my readers seem to love! While I definitely enjoy creating videos for YouTube as well, I’m not feeling as inspired or driven to create content on there… mostly because I don’t see the same response on there as I do on SnapChat (I don’t receive much engagement, it’s really hard to come up with unique content ideas, and I don’t really make any money off of YouTube – the money isn’t really the problem, but it certainly would make me more inclined if I was at least getting something back from creating all that content!). I’m not saying I’m done with YouTube, but I’m hoping to tailor my approach a little more, and maybe make it more like my SnapChat. And since not everyone has SnapChat, this would be a way for all people to connect with me like that but on YouTube. Less categorical and more candid… weekly vlogging perhaps? I’m open to ideas!

#4 – FINALLY SET UP MY GARAGE GYM

You all know I have a bunch of workout equipment now because of BBG, and I’m ashamed to admit it’s still all sitting in my office. I started working out in my office when I moved in because the little AC unit hadn’t been installed in my garage yet, and I just haven’t taken the time to get it all set up in there! While I would say it’s just as easy as moving it all over one afternoon, I actually need to blow the leaves out of the garage, consolidate my luggage/organize the random crap that’s already in the garage, lay down the gym tile/flooring I bought and then bring the equipment out and set it up… Seems sort of daunting. Hoping to get it taken care of when I get back from Nashville!

#5 – BE BETTER ABOUT LETTING GO

If you don’t know me, you may not know I’m a very Type-A personality. I’m a control freak, perfectionist, very time urgent, etc. These qualities can be a double-edged sword, to be sure! On the one hand, these traits come in handy for work and other important aspects of my life… on the other it can really have a negative impact on my mood and outlook. When I don’t have control (perceived or otherwise) over a situation (any situation, really), it causes me a great amount of stress. This tends to send me down a dark spiral where I can’t think of anything else until the source of that stress is eradicated. Clearly, not the ideal situation! One of my big goals for 2018 is to let go a little more and not get so affected by matters beyond my control.
