One of the highlights of my recent trip to London was going on a new adventure to a city I hadn’t yet visited before: Cambridge. My friend Briony lives there and had told me such wonderful things about Cambridge when we hung out back in 2015, but for some reason I never made the trip that season. It was definitely at the top of my list this time around! Just an hour north of London by train, it’s a super easy day trip to make.
The center of town has a quaint, old world feel to it with a bunch of charming shops, alleyways and a bustling market. Walk to the edge and you’ll be met with the most magnificent architecture from the various Cambridge colleges! Cambridge certainly has a lot to offer photography wise, and there’s also a lot of rich history (including royal history – my favorite!) around the various campuses. Briony was kind enough to give us a tour of some of the campuses, and we even got to peek in King’s College Chapel where she got married! So beautiful.
If you’re looking to add a day trip to your next visit to London, I would highly recommend putting Cambridge on your list! I’ll be sharing a suggested guide for it in The London Itinerary over on A Detailed Destination (launching tomorrow)! If you know someone traveling to London in the near future, I hope you’ll share A Detailed Destination with them!
