If you’re visiting Porto but looking for an easy day trip to do outside the city, we had so much fun in Costa Nova! It takes about an hour to get there via train and it’s super easy – take the train to Aveiro and then take a ten minute cab over to Costa Nova. We only did a half day since it was cloudy, but had it have been sunny we would’ve hung out on the beach the rest of the afternoon! This small beach town is full of the most adorable striped houses along the main street, and we discovered even more while walking around the various streets around town too. So many great photo opportunities here!!

We grabbed lunch at Bronze Seafood & Lounge bar, which was situated right on the beach with dining on the inside and on a patio. It was busy by the time we got there, so we settled for a seat inside and filled up on salad, ham + cheese toasts (TO DIE FOR!) and grilled fresh fish. It was such a yummy lunch! After a few quick pics on the beach, we headed back to the train station and back to Porto. I highly recommend doing this on a day when the weather is sunny so you can take advantage of the beach! We went on a weekday and the beach was pretty empty – a nice spot for a few hours of relaxing.

Can’t wait to share more pics of our Portugal trip next week!! Stay tuned Sunday for more pics from my Paris trip – was planning to post those while I was in Portugal, but never got around to finishing the post…. oops! Hope you guys have an amazing weekend!

PS – we quickly learned that whenever an “s” preceded a “t” in Portuguese, it’s supposed to be pronounced like “sht”. So Costa Nova actually sounds like Coshta Nova – just a tip when trying to tell your taxi driver where to go!
