HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Today I turn 31 and am so thrilled to celebrate it with my family in one of my favorite places. 30 was such a great year, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come! While this post isn’t birthday related, I can always pretend I’m enjoying a cocktail overlooking the Douro river on my b-day right?

On our last day in Porto, we dined at a place called Digby for lunch. We were both unaware it was part of a hotel, but were SO impressed with what we discovered upon arrival. This place is MAGICAL! Not only does the restaurant have the most incredible views of Porto, but it features the most amazing interiors I’ve ever seen at a hotel (at least from a blogger perspective!!). Talk about an instagrammable location! After seeing these photos, can you blame me for making this into a dedicated blog post?

While the service was a bit slow at the restaurant, the food, drinks, design and stellar view made it all worth it! I ordered a passionfruit cocktail that totally blew my mind – it was both tart and sweet, featuring fresh passionfruit juice in a martini glass. Perfect for a hot day! We got to the restaurant at 11:30am on a Saturday, only to discover they don’t start serving their lunch menu until 12:30 – luckily they had a bar menu for us to choose from… which honestly had a pretty large selection! I started with a small salad that had artichoke hearts, mushrooms, asparagus and butter lettuce (YUM!) and my main course was a decadent ham and cheese sandwich (something we enjoyed a lot in Portugal – it’s a staple in their menus). Truly so delicious!

The Turel Avantgarde hotel is situated right around the corner from the Jardins de Palacio de Cristal, so it’s a great spot to eat right after spending the morning there. It’s a little bit outside of what I’d call a central location in Porto, but if you want to get away from the crowded central area this would definitely be a great place to stay. It would definitely be ideal for a romantic getaway!

After lunch we swung by our hotel to grab our luggage and headed to the train station to catch the train to Lisbon. I wore this under $70 dress with my favorite jean jacket (similar here)! A great lightweight and casual look for walking around and making the trip down south!
