Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try-On with Sizing Info and Reviews

In case you missed my Instagram Stories on Thursday, I did an in-depth try-on session at Nordstrom right when the Anniversary Sale opened! I know not everyone is on Instagram or has time to flip through all of my stories, and I also know not everyone loves to shop from their phones. So with that, here’s a roundup of all of the pieces I tried in store! Below you’ll find photos of each item along with detailed info on sizing, fit, quality, and whether or not I kept it myself.

I also placed a large order online, so when I receive those items next week I’ll be sure to do another try-on session over on Instagram + another recap here on the blog. Stay tuned for outfit posts featuring my favorite sale finds too! Just so you’re aware, I didn’t edit any of these photos so the colors would be as accurate as possible. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions you have about these pieces that aren’t answered below :)

HAPPY SHOPPING!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try-On with Sizing Info and Reviews[/halves]

This first look features this coat, this top, these jeans and these loafers. The coat fits true to size, but I’d recommend sizing up if you plan to wear it with thicker sweaters, as the arm holes are on the smaller side! I’m wearing a medium here. Also want to note there is no closure on this coat. It’s SO beautiful in person! The color is the ideal neutral for wearing with everything from black, winter white, grey, blush, burgundy and so many other winter hues. The cashmere wool blend is incredibly soft, and it’s pretty thick making it great for cold winter temps.

The top is an under $50 find that looks way more expensive in person than it does online! I’m wearing a size medium here, which gives it a more roomy fit (I’m busty and don’t want it tight across the chest!). The print I got features a neutral/nude base color and a subtle black print. It’s a great shirt for the office! Style it for a night out with leather pants or a miniskirt.

I actually really loved the fit of these jeans, but because they are slightly cropped I thought they were just a tad too short on me (I’m 5’9). If you don’t have long legs or are shorter than 5’7, you should try these jeans! They feature a mid-rise waist and a frayed hem. A cute and casual style for weekend wear. I’ll talk about the loafers below with more photos!

These loafers are a sale must-have!!! They are SO comfortable. The leather is super soft and stretchy, so I’d bet they’d even be comfortable on those of you who suffer from bunions. I’m wearing a 39.5 and normally wear a 40, so I’d size down a half size. There are a few different color options, but the black is the most classic and wearable. They feature a silver bar and silver detail on the heel, adding a stylish touch to this menswear-inspired shoe. Obsessed! I’ll be wearing these all season.

In the photo on the right, I’m wearing this cardigan and this under $25 cami! I bought the cami in black and in ivory, as I wear camis like this on the reg. They’re so useful for styling under cardigans, leather jackets, blazers, capes, jean jackets, and more! I just love them, and this one is actually very high quality for the price (which also can’t be beat). I’m wearing a size small in the cami. The cardigan is a very loose fit (I’m wearing a small and it’s still really big on me) and features a chic colorblock stripe look near the hem. It’s black, ivory and charcoal, making it easy to pair with all kinds of neutrals and jeans for work, the weekend or travel!

On the left you’ll see the same cami, jeans and loafers as you saw with the colorblock stripe cardigan, but this time I’ve paired it with this drape front cardigan. I bought something nearly identical by the same brand during last year’s Anniversary Sale, and it was probably my favorite purchase from the whole thing! It uses the same soft cashmere and is in the exact color I bought, but with a slightly different silhouette. The one I own from last year’s sale has more of a drape front lapel and a ribbed look, whereas this new season style is a single layer and a smooth weave. I’m wearing a size XS/S and it fits perfectly! I highly recommend it. This cardigan is such a versatile piece that I’ve worn everywhere from the movies, on the plane, running errands and more.

On the right I’m wearing this cableknit sweater in a creamy ivory color. Another gorgeous everyday sweater! It’s more of a boxy style, so very roomy and comfortable. It’s not what I’d call cropped, but it’s definitely shorter than other sweaters – great for that front tuck I like to do with my jeans. The back hem hits right above the top of my jean pockets. I’m wearing a small and it’s roomy, so you could probably size down! The jeans I’m wearing here are not part of the sale (sorry)!

If you are looking to update your work wardrobe or just want a chic jacket for the new season, check out this tweed piece. It’s still an investment, but the markdown is insane! It’s got the look of Chanel without the crazy price tag… score! The colors in it are navy, royal blue, white, and silver. It fits true to size – I’m wearing a 6 here. I’m wearing it with this coordinating navy shell which features a dual texture look – one is satin and one is matte. I’m wearing a small and it’s still pretty roomy, so you could definitely size down. I wouldn’t say the shell is a necessity though, as you could easily pair the tweed jacket with any white or blue tee, tank or cami you already own!

In the look on the right, I’m wearing the SOFTEST cardigan of my life! I’ve been wanting one of these for awhile now, but I missed my chance during the sale last year and was determined to find my size this year. It’s definitely not elevated enough to take to the office or wear to dinner, so I’m planning to use it for travel, errands and lounging mostly. I’m wearing a medium because the armholes on the XS/S were a little too snug on me. This pale blue/grey color is so pretty (matches my eyes!), but it also comes in charcoal grey and a sort of ivory/cement color. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for some cozy pieces for fall! It’s under $80 during the sale, but will go back up to $116 when the sale ends! I’m also wearing the cami from the earlier pics in ivory here. Such a great staple!

In the look on the left, I’m sporting this green lace jacket and this cashmere sweater (also featured in the photo on the right). The jacket is a stylish, structured piece that’ll be so cute for throwing on with tees and jeans for a daytime or casual nighttime look. It’s giving me all of the Veronica Beard vibes, but is actually from Nordstrom’s own Signature label. High quality and the fit is great – just note the armholes are a little small, so I’d size up if you’re planning to wear with long sleeves! I’m wearing a size small in the jacket here, and I would have gone with a medium if I’d purchased it so I could wear it with sweaters too as the temps drop. I decided not to keep it mostly because I don’t wear much green – it’s just not my color! I think it looks gorgeous on brunettes and redheads though.

The cashmere sweater, however, is something I absolutely took home with me! It’s just the kind of sweater I’m always hunting for. An effortless basic in a versatile neutral I can layer with or wear as a chic stand-alone item! I sized up to a medium for a roomier fit, as I don’t like my sweaters fitted. It is super, super soft and features a classic crewneck neckline and natural hem length. Obsessed! Highly recommend.

As I mentioned on Instagram Stories when I did this try-on, I’m fully committed to Lululemon when it comes to activewear. I just love the fit, styles and colors, and they last FOREVER! With that said, I did try on a couple of activewear items from the #NSALE. The only thing I kept was this split-hem pullover for throwing on over my sweaty tanks for post-workout errands. I tried it on in the color you see above and grey, but decided this color was more my kind of neutral – plus, I have a lot of grey already! I’m wearing the size small here and I’d say it’s pretty true to size.

On the right side I am wearing this ruffled high-neck sweater in grey! I didn’t end up keeping it, but only because I also happened to order it online. I’m still undecided whether I’ll keep it or not, so let me know what you think. I think the ruffled neck is a super cute and unique detail, and it’s also got balloon sleeves for an added stylish touch. Definitely an elevated sweater you could pair with leather pants for dinner or wear to the office! I’m wearing a small here, and might could have sized down. It’s super soft and under $50!!

One piece I really liked the fit of but didn’t love the fabric quality was this oversized cardigan. It’s a great price (just over $50), is super thick and warm… and while the fabric isn’t necessarily scratchy, there’s just sort of a cheap feel to it. It’s also a little sheer, which I don’t like. I do love the winter white color though! I’m wearing a small and it’s still pretty big, so definitely size down if you plan to order!

On the right I’m wearing this sleek leather moto jacket. They only had a medium left in the store when I found it, which ended up being huge on me. I’d say it runs pretty big, so size down at least one size! I love the length on it, as I feel like most moto styles come a little cropped. The leather is super supple and soft, and the hardware is very understated. Love it!

On the left I’m wearing these suede mules. They’re a great steal at only $65, but did leave a little to be desired. They’re almost too simple – I would have like to see one stylish detail or have them cut to look slightly more feminine. They’re just not me, so I didn’t keep. They also run wide, so if you have wide feet and have trouble finding comfortable shoes, try these! They come in two other colors too.

On the right I’m wearing this grey cashmere sweater with a bateau neckline. The neckline is what drew  me in, and I didn’t even notice it had bell sleeves when I’d pulled it from the rack! I’m actually sort of over the bell sleeve trend, so I didn’t end up keeping it. I just felt like that detail was unnecessary. With that said, the sweater is really soft and fits will (true to size)!

Would you think I’m crazy if I told you I bought BOTH of these denim jackets? I mean, I might be… but I’ve worn the oversized jean jacket I bought from Need Supply earlier this year SO MUCH, I decided it was worth snagging these two. They are very different styles (from each other and from the one I already own), so I’m excited to mix it up now and then with a new look. The jacket on the left is a cropped, boxy cut jacket – it definitely has more of an edgy, 90’s look to it (which is very in right now, btw). It’s on sale for under $55! I’m wearing a US size 8. The size 6 fit me fine, but I like how the 8 slouches on my frame a bit more.

The jacket on the right has more of a typical, slim cut and features a much longer hem. I’d say it’s probably the closest look to a standard jean jacket and will be great for pairing with more sophisticated pieces and preppier looks like striped tees. I’m wearing a size medium – it’s a straighter fit, so I had to make room for my bust! Don’t want any cupping action going on.
