WHEN TO STOP WEARING VELVET

Cupcakes and Cashmere Gold Stripe Turtleneck Sweater

Even though my collages have been very spring forward, my outfits at home in Dallas have been quite the opposite! After that blissful warm day last Friday, Dallas was hit with another cold spell this week. It’s been in the mid-30’s-40’s all week! Except for OrangeTheory and meals or drinks with friends, I haven’t really left my house… so I’ve been sporting cozy sweaters like this, these under $100 jeans I’m living in, and sneakers or boots. Even with the dreary weather, I can’t complain when I’m comfortable! Plus, it’s been nice to get a bunch of computer work done since I’ll be trying to avoid working on my trip.

I received a question for Beck and Call that I thought I’d address here since I’m wearing my favorite bag from fall/winter! The question was about how long I wear velvet pieces – Is it just winter? Is it transitional? While I do feel like velvet is more of a fall/winter/spring fabric, I think it totally depends on the weather where you are. I probably will not wear this bag once the thermostat hits 75 degrees regularly… but as long as it’s still chilly I plan to wear it into spring! It’s such a great neutral hue that looks amazing with dark fall/winter pieces and lighter spring colors alike. This bag has been a functional, comfortable and versatile style, so I guarantee I’ll be wearing it again once the temps cool down again next fall! Whether you’re looking for velvet or not, this medium Marmont shoulder bag is one I would highly recommend! You can wear it crossbody, over the shoulder, shorten the strap and make it a shoulder bag for dinner… so many ways to wear it! Get it in velvet here and leather here (multiple colors in both).

PS – for those of you eager to hear my review on the Apple Watch, stay tuned! I’m working on a post for March :)
