If you are someone with hips like me, you may have found this straight leg/mom jean trend frustrating. I have tried pair after pair of straight leg jeans only to discover they just don’t flatter my figure. If you don’t have a curves, this may not be an issue for you – but for me personally, most pairs look like they add pounds and highlight that section. We all have insecurities, and that is one part of my body I do NOT like to draw attention to! For this reason, I’m not super adventurous with denim. I find silhouettes I like and stick to those!
I’d almost given up on the idea of straight leg jeans when I decided to give a new style a try by one of my favorite denim brands. Citizens of Humanity is the designer of my go-to skinny jean style – it’s this pair. They are so soft and comfortable, but most importantly are such a flattering wash and cut! I love them so much I bought a second pair in the exact same size/wash just as a backup. So with that said, I figured if anyone could cut a flattering straight leg shape for me it would probably be them. I saw this new pair by Citizens a couple weeks ago and thought I’d give it one more shot!
I’m SO glad I did too, because the fit of these jeans is PERFECT. They are insanely flattering for not being a fitted style, and the straight leg look + distressed hem add some edge to my otherwise polished skinny jean collection. I’ve been wearing these Charlotte jeans nonstop over the last week, with heels, sneakers, pointed-toe flats… they look so cute with everything! Needless to say I’m convert – finally, a straight leg style that is flattering for me!! PS: This jacket is also a new purchase and I’m OBSESSED. The gold details are such a chic, luxe detail that elevate this casual layer. It’s true to size, but I’m wearing a medium so I can wear it over sweaters and scrunch up the sleeves comfortably!
