While I was in San Diego, I had some free time the day I left. I decided to pop over to the Westfield shopping center for lunch and a bit of light shopping! Well that was the intention, anyway. I had no plans of buying anything on this trip, but ended up finding some really great budget-friendly buys at H&M and Zara! As you’ve heard me say before, I generally prefer to invest in quality staples… but when I find a really good deal I’m all for it! I’ll be sharing what I found from Zara soon, but today let’s focus on one of my steals at H&M: this plaid blazer and matching skinny pant (not available online – stop by an H&M near you to shop!). I love the black, brown, ivory and rust/burnt orange color scheme in the plaid… so perfect for fall and a great set of neutrals to work with!
While I don’t have much use for a suit like this for work (since I work at home!), I can definitely utilize both for a variety of functions. Keep scrolling to see a few ways I plan to wear these cute pieces and shop even more suit separates at the bottom of the post!
Wearing the blazer and pants together is obviously a great look for the office, but I plan to dress them up as an alternative to a dress for dinner or party! When the weather cools down, I’m thinking I’ll wear a velvet black cami underneath, black heels and a matching black clutch. So chic!

The blazer is probably the easier of the two pieces to style more casually. I love pairing blazers with jeans and heels or boots for a night out! You could also style this blazer over any LBD or blouse + skirt combo for an elevated work look. Lots of fun combos to create with these pieces!
