LAST NIGHT IN GERMANY: FRANKFURT

01.12

I’m finally down to my last post from my trip to Germany in December! We ended our trip with a night in Frankfurt and stayed in the most BEAUTIFUL hotel! More on that a little further down… We arrived in Frankfurt just before dark, so really all we had time to do was visit the Christmas Market and then dinner. It was about a 30 minute walk from the hotel to the market, but I really enjoyed getting a glimpse of Frankfurt along the way. The walk was along the water, so we got a view of the skyline, a number of the big museums and more! The Frankfurt Christmas Market was very busy, with everyone drinking Gluhwein and grabbing sausage sandwiches from a variety of vendors. They even had a carousel and a small outpost of the famous Rothenburg ornament store in the square! I do have to admit this was my least favorite Christmas Market – it felt very touristy like the Nuremberg one! But I did love getting to see the square and have one last Gluhwein before leaving town early the next morning. After spending a couple of hours there, we walked back to the hotel (Villa Kennedy) for dinner.

Villa Kennedy is part of the Rocco Forte family luxury hotels around the world, and they graciously gave us a complimentary night stay! It was recently renovated and each room was designed tastefully and thoughtfully. If I had stayed longer, you better believe I would have gotten use out of the amazing closet/vanity in my room! I did have time for a bath at the end of the night, which was perfectly relaxing after a day on my feet in the cold.

The hotel has an incredible spa which I was surprised to hear is getting renovated this year – it looked so gorgeous as is when we toured the rest of the hotel! On this tour we also got a sneak peek at some of the fabulous suites (like the Marilyn Monroe and the John F. Kennedy suites!). Briony was in Frankfurt the entire next day, so she got to enjoy a full morning at the hotel with breakfast in bed, and a massage at the spa while I was on a 10 hour flight back to Dallas. I was so jealous! She also visited some of Frankfurt’s museums, which I’d love to do some day!

Needless to say, if I ever go back to Frankfurt I will 100% stay at Villa Kennedy again. The accommodations and service were outstanding, and the restaurant was amazing too! Highly recommend this hotel! Scroll down to see more photos from this gorgeous spot and more pics from the Frankfurt Christmas Market!
