MY POST-WORKOUT MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

Post-Workout Morning Skincare Routine | The Style Scribe

As you’ve heard me say before, I am not beauty blogger and have never claimed to be! I’m even less knowledgeable about skincare. I’ve gotten by pretty easy with skincare stuff, mostly thanks to genetics. Because I’ve never dealt with acne or any major skin issues, I’ve always kept my routine pretty simple and minimal. I seriously didn’t even start washing my face daily until my mid-20’s! I rarely test new products out of laziness, and I find it takes me awhile to get through the products I buy which is why I’m not constantly sharing new favorites or “empties”. I see bloggers sharing empties posts and videos all the time, but I truly cannot figure out how they go through the products so quickly! I feel like it takes forever for me to get through a single bottle of anything, even if I use it every day. I say all of this to explain why I don’t post a ton about beauty or skincare on my blog – my routine changes very rarely and I’m really pretty lazy about it.

The only time I really changed things up in a big way was last year around June when I started experiencing Perioral Dermatitis, which is basically eczema of the face/scalp. My dermatologist prescribed me with a cream and shampoo that I use with flare-ups, but there’s not much else I can do other than to use gentle products that won’t irritate my sensitive skin. That’s another reason why I’ve been keeping my skincare routine very simple lately! Read on to see what my current routine is and shop some new and old favorites!

Since I usually exercise first thing in the morning, I don’t do anything to my face when I first wake up. My morning skincare routine begins in the shower after my workout! For the sake of photography (and Liza’s eyes! haha) I shot these photos clothed and in front of my sink, but I always wash my face when I’m in the shower post-workout. I can’t ever seem to avoid getting water all over me and my marble counters when I try to wash my face at the sink, so it’s become a habit of mine to wash my face in the shower instead! I told you, I’m lazy.

Ever since I found out about the Perioral Dermatitis, I’d been using Neutrogena’s Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser. I’d been nearing the end of the bottle last month, and around the same time Cle De Peau reached out about having me try their line of Cleansing Foams! Perfect timing to try something new. Cle De Peau sent me the Softening Cleansing Foam (great for sensitive and dry skin) and their Clarifying Cleansing Foam (suitable for normal to oily skin types). Considering my current skincare issue, I decided to start using the Softening Cleansing Foam!

The first thing I noticed upon applying Cle De Peau’s Softening Cleansing Foam was how silky and luxe the formula feels. The creamy texture feels like something you’d have applied during an expensive facial! The subtle fragrance is soft and calming as well, featuring hints of rose and orchid. A little goes a long way with this product – you really only need a dime size or less with water to create a creamy foam! I’ve only used the product for about three weeks now, but I’m loving it so far! It’s been super gentle on my skin and certainly has made it feel softer. Definitely recommend it for those of you with sensitive or dry skin! Cle De Peau also sent me their highly rated serum to try, but I need to finish up the bottle of serum I currently use before moving on to the next! Waste not, want not, as my mom always says.

After I’ve washed my face in the shower, I hop out and finish my morning skincare routine while my hair air dries a bit. After washing, I do a combo of moisturizer and serum. Currently this is Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream and Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum! I put a little of the moisturizer and a few drops of the serum into my hand and mix together before applying to my face and neck. I’ve used the Magic Cream for years – it’s so hydrating and makes your skin silky smooth, and contains SPF15. The Active Botanical Serum helps protect your skin against toxins and environmental stress, and I love the scent! Every other day I’ll also put a couple drops of Tan Luxe self-tanning drops into that mixture to give my face a glow. Been really enjoying the tanning drops – they’re easy to use, work quickly and the bottle is a great size for travel! If it’s a day where I’m forgoing makeup (I usually do this a few days each week), I’ll just apply Diptyque lip balm and call it a day. If not, I’ll move onto my makeup routine! Like I said, I keep it super simple and easy over here. Keeping my routine minimal is the only way to ensure I actually stick with it!

If you’re in the market for a new face wash or other skincare products, definitely be sure to check out Cle De Peau’s luxurious line! So impressed with the quality, feel and results so far – looking forward to using more of their products going forward!
