SPRING TRY-ON #2

04.01

Back again this week with another spring try-on! Most of these items are from an order I placed from LOFT/Lou & Grey, but there is one leftover item from the Shopbop sale I hadn’t yet shared! This try-on features some great basics and some fun brights as well… there’s something for everyone! Stay tuned for a fresh try-on next week that I shared on InstaStories this Sunday!

This color is not one I’ve really ever ordered before, and just sort of assumed it wouldn’t look great on me. Marigold and orange-y hues tend to look amazing on those with darker skin and hair, but I loved the silhouette of this dress and wanted to give it a try! I’m SO glad I did, because I am OBSESSED. This color is just as fantastic, bright and happy as it looks online. The flattering cinched waist + loose skirt combo paired with feminine ruffle details make it a knockout in my book. I’m wearing a size 4 here, which is true to size for LOFT!

In addition to picking up some sundresses, I wanted to give some tanks a try! I don’t usually wear tanks solo, but often style them under jackets and trenches for everyday wear and travel. My go-to is a lace cami, but for more casual looks a tank like this would be great to have on hand! I love the super soft, thick fabric and subtle scoop neckline. The color I’m wearing here is the cream heather, which is the perfect neutral! I also bought it in black – scroll down to see it. Wanted to share a picture of this tank with and without a jacket on so you can see how it looks both ways! I’m wearing a small here, which is more fitted on me with 34D boobs. This works for me as I’ll mostly be styling it under and tucking it into things. Size up if you have a bigger chest and want a loose fit!

This is the black sweatshirt and matching shorts I mentioned in yesterday’s EDIT! I have this exact same sweatshirt in grey, and also have a zip-up black version in the same super soft fabric. I love how long the shorts are! These pieces are so comfy and soft, but lightweight – great for spring/summer lounging in Texas! I’m wearing a small in the sweatshirt and a medium in the shorts. The sweatshirt is under $70 and shorts are under $50! Can’t recommend these pieces enough!!! I’ve worn them repeatedly during social distancing.

The square neckline and fresh floral print on this dress are what made me want to order it! I was a bit surprised to discover how high the neckline is when I tried it on. If I’m being honest, it feels too high on me… but I kept it anyway. It’s the kind of dress that works so well for daytime functions like church, meetings, etc, but is easy to dress up for dinners and nights out as well! It’s super flattering and just a great spring/summer go-to. I’m wearing a 4 here, which is true to size! Love that it has pockets.

Ok, so this tank is actually one I bought last year and bought again because I love it so much! The neckline is almost boatneck/bateau, which is so unique for a tank. I love the way it looks by itself tucked into skirts – the neckline just makes you feel like there’s more coverage, which I appreciate with a large chest. It also looks so stylish under jackets and trench coats! The length is great too, and you can wear it untucked which is really nice. Most tanks are more fitted throughout, but this one is not. It’s more of a swing style! I’m wearing a small here which is true to size!

I had high hopes for this striped midi dress, but ultimately I decided against keeping it. While I loved the breezy fabric and soft, multicolor stripes, the dropped waist detail below the belt was not flattering around my love handles. If you are tiny around the middle, it would look great! I just don’t love that it puffed out a bit right below the belt. Otherwise this dress is darling! It matched my new Gal Meets Glam x Margaux espadrilles perfectly!

Here’s the black scoop neck tank I mentioned above! Again, great thick fabric that’s super soft and comfy. Wanted to share a picture of it with and without a jacket on so you can see how it looks both ways! I’m wearing a small here, which is more fitted on me with 34D boobs. This works for me as I’ll mostly be styling it under and tucking it into things. Size up if you have a bigger chest and want a loose fit!

This dress is not part of my LOFT order, but wanted to share anyway! It’s from the Shopbop sale several weeks ago. I picked it up assuming I’d be taking it with me to Grand Cayman, but alas that trip didn’t happen. I’m still so happy to have it for summer! I’ve been meaning to buy more items in this color, as I think it looks great against my skin and hair. This dress is a fairly loose silhouette without the belt, but I always love a cinched waist to show my shape! I’m wearing a small here, which is true to size. The fabric features gold threading throughout, which is a glam detail!
