SPRING BEAUTY UPDATE // CURRENT MAKEUP ROUTINE

04.02

FACE

Start by moisturizing with this post-workout morning skincare routine! Next mix a pump of Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (#4) and Marc Jacobs Coconut Gel Highlighter together in your fingers, then apply to entire face and on neck (if necessary!) until even. Dab NARS Creamy Concealer (Vanilla) below your eyes, on your lids and anywhere else you would like additional coverage, then use this brush to smooth it out evenly. Take this Laura Mercier Velour Puff and dip into Laura Mercier’s Translucent Powder, then rub sides of the puff together to get the powder to settle into the puff. Lightly pat the puff around your face and neck until you feel like your skin is dry and even. I always make sure to get my eyebrows powdered too, so that when I apply shadow to define them there is a smooth delivery of product.

Next grab this Benefit Hoola Bronzer (Medium) and this brush and apply to entire face and neck. Once your bronzer is on and even, grab your blush brush and mix a combo of Mary Kay’s Blush in “Juicy Peach” and “Shy Blush”, applying to the apples of your cheeks. Finally, grab this Laura Gellar Beauty Gelato Swirl Illuminator (Gilded Honey) and apply a little with one finger to the top of your cheeks (spread it from the apple of your cheeks near your nose, all the way to the outside edge of your eye!) and the either side of your nose bridge. As far as all of my brushes go, I have this Sigma Brush set!

EYES

After I’ve done my face, but before I apply my eye shadow, I work on my brows! For the last couple of years I’ve been applying NARS Single Eyeshadow in “Bali” with a thin defining brush like this. It’s a great ashy brown color that looks great on blondes!

Lately I’ve been using a Mary Kay palette that is one of those build-your-own palettes! I start by applying the “Biscotti” color as a base shadow, followed by either “Rose Gold” or “Candlelight” on my lids – I used Candlelight here. To add a bit of depth and a subtle smokey eye, I’ll apply a mix of “Shiny Penny”, “Dusty Rose” and “Sunlit Rose” into my crease. I’ll apply this mix starting from the outer edge of my eyes, into the crease using my fingers to spread it out evenly. I’ll do almost the entire span of my crease, lining the interior edge up with the edge of my eyebrow and the exterior edge up with the outer corner of my eye (see below for a close-up)!

My lash routine has been the same for years now! I apply neuLASH to my upper lash line before bed every night – it’s a must! As far as my actual makeup routine goes, I start by applying Givenchy’s Base Mascara Perfecto Primer to my upper lashes only, followed my two coats of CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara (in Black). I let my lashes dry about 30 seconds between the primer and mascara application, as well as between the two coats of black mascara. Helps to build volume!

LIPS

This particular lip look is super simple and easy – just one product! I’m wearing MAC Patent Paint Lip Lacquer in Patent Pleasure. It’s the perfect coral-pink hue for spring!

HAIR

This isn’t a hair post, but thought I’d share what I did here anyway! I used this round brush and my Dyson hair dryer to blow dry. I always do it in two sections – I’ll pull my wet hair into a half up do and clip, so I can do the underside of my hair first. I roll my hair under as I’m blow drying. After I’ve done the bottom, I’ll take my hair out of the clip and blow dry the top of my head. The key to adding volume for me is to blow it under with the brush rolled all the way up (right at the root), and do a cool shot of air to hold it! After blow drying, I curl my hair in sections with this 1.5 inch wand. There’s a tutorial on how I curl my hair on my IGTV! Even though my hair is longer now, I still do it the same way – the only difference is that with shorter hair you want to use a 1 inch wand, but with longer hair 1.5 inch is better for loose curls!
