As I shared in this post recently, I tend to get in a rut when it comes to denim. I generally rewear the same pairs over and over again until they’re falling apart! My style is very classic, so I don’t tend to stray far from the typical high-rise skinny jeans I’m so comfortable in. But lately I’ve been feeling like my wardrobe lacks variety in that department, and I’m now in a denim-buying frenzy! In that post I linked before, I shared this pair that I’m loving by GRLFRND. They’re now on sale, by the way!
Since I had such success trying a new brand, I decided to branch out during Shopbop’s most recent sale and ordered a bunch of other brands/styles to try! While I didn’t keep them all, I did score two additional pairs I’m glad to have on hand that are slightly different lengths and styles. Variety is the spice of life! The first is this pair by BOYISH, a new-to-me label – it’s the pair I’m wearing in these photos! These have a super easy fit, and are really comfortable thanks to the subtle stretch in the fabric. I love the length of these, and the big back pockets too! They hit me right above my ankle, so they look great with everything from sandals to sneakers. Not too long, not too cropped. These are definitely a more casual pair that I’ll wear working from home + lounging around, running errands, and on short walks with Reeses. I definitely could have taken my normal size (28) in these, but liked the more relaxed (read: less tight) fit of the size 29!
The second pair I kept is actually not a new-to-me brand, but a go-to brand of mine: Citizens of Humanity! I absolutely love Citizens jeans, mostly because I find the styles to be super flattering on my particular figure. I love their big back pockets (minimizes a booty), the washes are always really attractive, and any distressed details or wrinkle marks are well-placed. You may recall I already have this style, but I noticed the exact same cut is available in a straight leg style without the distressed hem. The washes are really similar, but I love how the non-distressed style is a little more clean-cut and features a longer hem. They’re a little more versatile too. I took my normal size in these!
You may have also noticed my new bag and sandals, both of which I also got 25% off during Shopbop’s sale. Such great summer basics! I already owned pieces by both brands and can attest to the quality, versatility and comfort. Highly recommend both! See how I styled them yesterday with a dress here.
