LISA MARIE FERNANDEZ FOR TARGET

06.15

I think the last time I shopped a Target designer collaboration was Missoni for Target in 2011… but when I heard Lisa Marie Fernandez was doing one this summer, I had to give it a go! Lisa Marie Fernandez is one of my favorite summertime brands, specifically for beachwear and easy dresses. Her collections are pretty pricey, so I’ve only acquired a couple of her pieces over the last several years – but they are constantly appearing on The Edit, The Shop and my personal wish lists! Her pieces are all so effortlessly chic and feminine, featuring light linens, colorful touches and dainty details like ric rac and ruffles. Her swimwear is always about $300+ and her dresses are mostly above $500, so I was eager to snag some similar items for less from her collection for Target. You may recall this piece I have from a few years ago, which is quite similar to what she created in the Target collab!

Side note: my earrings are by The Tiny Tassel! I actually found these while shopping along King Street in Charleston last April at a store called Skinny Dip. The designer, Mimi, was hosting a trunk show and I fell in love with this neutral woven pair! If you’re looking to support black-owned businesses and brands, be sure to check out her gorgeous pieces. So many fun statement earrings for any occasion! You can shop my straw bag here and my gold espadrilles here.

Unlike Missoni for Target which sold out in seconds, nearly every size in every Lisa Marie Fernandez piece is still available! I’m shocked, because these pieces are much higher quality than the Missoni items I purchased nearly a decade ago. Most of the dresses are lined, feature pockets and an optional belt you can tie at the waist! Every piece is $60 or less, and they are all available up to a size 3X. I ordered a size small in every dress, and they all fit me perfectly! Scroll down to see what I decided to keep + a little review on each item. So many fab pieces! Hope you get a chance to snag a piece before they’re all gone!

LISA MARIE FERNANDEZ X TARGET COLLABORATION

When I first tried on this dress, it was so wrinkled it looked bulky and very unflattering. My immediate reaction was NOPE, but I’m glad I steamed it and tried it on again… because this dress is so me! Steaming it totally flattened it out and it looks great now. This is the kind of dress I love wearing for everything from brunch with friends to a first date! It looks just as great with flat sandals as it does with heels, and is flirty, colorful and fun. The neckline is elasticized, which makes the fit very comfortable! The belt is optional, and there are large pockets – a big plus for me. I’m wearing a size small and normally wear a 4 or 6 in dresses. Shop my sandals here!

I know this dress is a tent and there’s a lot of fabric, but it is SO comfortable! I probably could’ve sized down to an XS in this one, but I’m lazy and love how this fits. I’m currently wearing it at my desk as I’m typing up this blog post! It is ideal for casual weekends, running errands, working from home, etc. It’s long enough for me to wear on walks with Reeses without flashing anyone if the wind picks up, and it’s lined so no sweat shows if I get hot! The linen fabric feels very high quality. This one also features large pockets, perfect for storing my phone and keys on our daily walks. Like the other dresses here, this dress comes with an optional white linen belt you can tie at your waist! I’m wearing this dress with flat espadrilles now, but will likely style it with sneakers and flat sandals as well. Super cute! Shop my heels here!

For really hot days, I’ll be happy to have this sleeveless number! It’ll look cute as a pool/beach coverup, but it’s also a piece that can transition easily from day to night. This dress has the optional belt, large pockets and adjustable strap. This dress hits me a couple inches above my knee, which is the shortest dress I got – the other minidress styles (this and this) were several inches shorter and too short on me (I’m 5’9). Here’s the other tent-ish dress I bought! The shorter black + white dress is linen, and this dress is crisp cotton for a slightly different vibe. It features matching white ric rac trim, which is so chic! You saw this dress belted in the photos at the top of this post, so showing it here without the belt. So cute either way! I probably could’ve sized down to an XS, but would have run the risk of it being too tight across the chest/arm pit area. I’m keeping the small! Again it’s a great length for walks with Reeses, features big pockets and is super comfortable for all day wear!

I was on the fence about this dress at first, but seeing how well it photographed changed my mind! The yellow is super bright in person, and I wasn’t sure if it washed me out or did me any favors. But the silhouette is very much my speed, and this is another dress I’d wear to just about anything during the summer! I wish they’d done this exact midi silhouette in black + white – I tried the shorter version, but it was just too short on me. So yellow it is! This particular style isn’t lined, but the fabric is certainly thick enough – just be sure to wear it with skin-colored underwear. Love the ruffled one-shoulder neckline, belted waist and pockets again! Shop my sandals here!
