NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CLASSICS!

10.14

I feel like I’ve been relying on old favorites lately, as I have been spending more on furniture and stuff for my new house than clothes! This blazer is an H&M find from last year that I LOVE! It features black, ivory and rust/tan, making it incredibly useful with so many neutrals in my closet. I also got the matching pants for a power suit look, but wear it most often with black jeans. The sweater is a cashmere crewneck piece I picked up a couple years back from Shopbop’s Bop Basics line. Such a great basic! I’ve worn this sweater with all kinds of vests, trenches, ponchos, blazers and jackets. While this is the only version of this Bop Basics sweater I have, I picked up a nearly identical style in black and oatmeal heather during the #NSALE this year! Vince is another one of my favorite brands, especially for cashmere, and worth every penny.

Another very similar outfit I wore on this Carmel trip was this L’Agence blazer (also from last year!), paired with an old Massimo Dutti mock-neck top and the gold Chanel flats I mentioned having since 2014. As I mentioned in Monday’s post, a blazer over a sweater or top is my go-to in Carmel. Perfectly polished, but still warm and comfortable for walking around all day! Most of what I wore on that trip is old news to you guys, but you can’t go wrong with the classics.

All of that to say, as much as I’m always sharing new finds and favorites on my blog and my Instagram accounts, I’m a big fan of finding pieces you’ll wear forever. It is *very* rare I buy something and only wear it for one season or own it for a year. When that happens, it’s typically something too trendy/colorful that I don’t end up using a lot. Most of my favorite everyday pieces are items I’ve had for years! Some of my go-to Club Monaco trenches are from 2015, my most used pair of Chanel flats is from 2014 and my favorite skinny jeans are ones I bought back in 2017 that are no longer available. Whether you’re splurging or saving on a new piece, I still believe it’s important to focus on key wardrobe staples that will stand the test of time and are built to last.
