My bedroom is soooooooo close to being done, you guys! It’s amazing what drapes and a rug can do to a space. Both items were installed in the last three weeks, and I’m ecstatic with how everything looks together!! The final items on my to-do list for this room are nightstands and a different pillow. The lumbar pillow you see here is meant for my living room sofas, but since I don’t have those in yet, it’s hanging out in my bedroom. I actually love how the antelope print looks in here, but don’t want to use the same pillows in both spaces! Amelia is currently finding some prints with similar neutrals for me to check out – can’t wait to see what she comes up with!
As far as nightstands go, I’ve mentioned before how I’d like to either find or get some chests made. While I love these antique pieces I inherited from my grandmother, I really prefer to have more drawer space by my bed and like to hide my tech/lamp cords. I also have quite a bit of space to work with on either side of the bed (45 inches!), so I’m envisioning larger chests in a similar color with gold hardware. I actually ordered some burl samples from Scout Design Studio here in Dallas to see if I like those colors in here – they do amazing bespoke chests and other furniture items! The Scout styles I love that can be made in burl are the Yates, the Monarch and the Mallory. All are great sizes for the space I have, and are tall – my bed is pretty high off the ground, so I want the table to meet that! I’m also considering finding a pair of antique chests in a similar French style to my grandmother’s pieces… lots to think about!
Scroll down to see more photos of my bedroom as it is currently. You can shop everything you see (minus the custom drapes, antique side tables and art!) at the bottom of the page! Stay tuned for more house updates…

Your bead room is beautiful! Love the white bedding, I have myself on the waiting list since November and hoping soon the duvet will be back!
Looks great but I think the proportions of the art piece in ratio to the bed frame is a bit odd. Maybe you need a bigger painting? Or maybe it looks good IRL, but it niggled a bit in photos.
Hi Joanna,
I personally love this painting and think it looks great over the bed! But thanks for your feedback!

This room is beautiful! What about the blanket at the end of the bed?
Hi Annie,
Everything I can link is found in the “shop the post” section on this page! There’s also a note about the blanket there – it’s from Argentina, so I can’t link it!
Thanks,
Merritt
SO chic. I love the artwork over the bed. Where did you find it?
Hi Sara!
This pieces was actually my great grandmother’s! Sorry I can’t link it!

Could you link some more inexpensive options of similar nightstands to the scout design ones?
Hi!
If you Google “burl nightstands” you’ll see some similar results! Since using burl is still relatively new and it’s all handmade to get that specific look, it’s generally expensive. There are a few options under $1,000 though!

Loving these black, tan, and white tones in your home! I may need that amazing rug in a space of my own :)
