In case you missed it, last week I had a very special guest on my podcast! I did a little interview with my mom and it was so much fun… I’m already scheming for a way to get her back on when I go home for Christmas! In last week’s episode we talked her personal style, some of her favorite designers, and more – click here to listen. It’s one you won’t want to miss! Since we’re already on the subject of my mom, this outfit is very fitting. Sure, the trench coat thing is very *me*, but this is actually a piece my mom bought for herself and ended up giving to me. I swear I didn’t steal it!! She felt that the long and oversized silhouette overwhelmed her frame, so she suggested I try it since I’m about four inches taller. Obviously I loved it, because here we are! I get my love of fashion from my mom, sister and grandmother – all three have amazing taste and love to shop. My mom and I have similar figures, so occasionally she and I can trade or borrow clothes (I tend to borrow more from her than the other way around though)! This definitely comes in handy when I’m visiting Austin and I forget something back at home in Dallas.
This Max Mara ruffle trim trench is such a gorgeous, timeless pieces. The ruffle details add a feminine touch, while the oversized fit and rich color keep it from feeling too girly. Unfortunately this style is old, but I figured this would be a good time to round up some of my favorite coat styles for winter! From chic puffers to stylish wool pieces, below is a great selection to get started with.
I loved the episode with your mom! She seems like such a gracious woman and a truly supportive mother. I am between both of your ages and understand the appeal of both of your fashion choices. And I must admit that as the parent of a high school girl with zero interest in fashion, I was buoyed by your personal story and will hope things evolve in college😁. Thanks to your mom and hopefully your sister would agree to be on as well.
