HITTING THE RESET BUTTON

2022 // HITTING THE RESET BUTTON

I don’t know about y’all, but I always consider the start of a new year a fresh start. It’s a time for me to set new intentions, make new plans, work on reaching a new set of goals, and more! I shared a loose version of my goals in this podcast episode, but thought I’d also type them here to help hold myself accountable.

GROW THE PODCAST

Maybe my biggest goal for 2022 is to grow my new podcast, Beck and Call! In addition to converting more blog readers and Instagram followers to listeners, I’d also love to grow the podcast beyond my own current audience. I’ve had so much fun putting together each episode and chatting with so many of you both offline and through the @beckandcallpodcast Instagram page about which topics have resonated with you! THANK YOU to those of you who have taken the time to listen to the podcast, whether it’s just one episode or binge-listening all 17 episodes so far! Your support means the world. If you’re feeling generous, it would mean even more if you could take a second to rate and write a review of the podcast on Apple Podcasts! Doesn’t seem like much, but these ratings and reviews make such a big difference!

MAKE MORE PROGRESS FURNISHING MY HOUSE

As you all probably know, furnishing and decorating a home can be an arduous and expensive process. I got a lot done in the first few months after I moved it, but after a hefty bill from the initial landscaping I did in my backyard, I’ve had to take a break from buying new items for the house. I’m hoping to pick it back up in the next few months so I can get more pieces for my office, kitchen/breakfast area, and complete the landscaping project we started last spring. I know these things take a long time, but I’d love to get more areas feeling more complete in terms of furniture in the next few months. Specifically, I’d love to order my the conference table + chairs, drapes and cabinet hardware for my office! It feels so naked right now.

GET BACK INTO A CONSISTENT WORKOUT/DIET ROUTINE

So many things are to blame for the rut I found myself in these last several months (the pandemic, egg freezing, etc), but I’m READY to get it together and make a consistent change. I mentioned this on the podcast and on Instagram, but I decided to try a different program in the Sweat App after not seeing the progress/results I wanted from just doing Peloton classes. I started the Fierce At Home program and today is the start of my eighth week! I’m already seeing progress and some changes in how my clothes are fitting, which is very motivating and confirms I made the right decision when making the switch. I’m still doing Peloton tread classes, but in terms of weights/HIIT/circuit training, I’m relying 100% on the Fierce At Home workouts. I’ve also been trying my best to be more consistent in how I eat! I’ve mentioned before how portion control (well, any kind of self control with food) is not my strong suit, but I feel like I’ve been doing a better job of it lately. I’m trying my best to eat smaller portions of whatever I do eat, while I’m not being restrictive (at least the last few weeks!), I try to focus on a vegetable-heavy meal (like zoodles and spicy Italian sausage in vodka sauce!) or a salad for either lunch or dinner. I find I’m less bloated the next day when I eat this way, and I do feel like I have more energy when I’m incorporating more vegetables into my diet. I’m not giving myself any specific goals in terms of weight loss or a number on the scale (I don’t even own one!!), but I would love to get back to what I was looking and feeling like pre-pandemic. It’s going to take me awhile, but I’m committed to the effort!

MAKE SOME ADJUSTMENTS WITH THE BLOG + NEWSLETTER

I have *zero* plans to quit blogging, but I would love to scale back on the number of posts I publish and newsletters I share every week. I’d like to focus more on quality than quantity, which I always have tried to do, but as I get busier with the podcast and other regular life things it might be nice to trim the fat and only share the best of the best. It’s hard to keep up with the blog, Instagram/stories/DMs, the podcast, and everything else! I just don’t want the quality to go downhill – I’d rather adjust the amount of posts/newsletters and make them *really* good! I also feel like with the amount of content I create I find myself just going through the motions vs being super passionate and inspired by what I’m putting out there. I’d like to get back to that!! One thing that has helped me a lot with that is Liza. For those of you who are new around here, Liza is my full-time assistant who runs @TSSedited and also helps create content for my blog and newsletter. She has been a major help in giving me a better work/life balance over the last couple of years! Since the new year is a fresh start, here’s what I’m planning to do going forward with my blog and newsletter:

  • New blog posts and newsletters every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Change the Beck & Call Q&A newsletter to once a month (it’s been once a week since I started it years ago!) – I’m going to answer 5-10 questions in one newsletter on the last Sunday of each month!

Thank you in advance for your continued support as I navigate these changes in my posting schedule! As always, please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have feedback!
